In most of the country, autumn/winter is the time of the year when nature goes dormant. In South Florida, this is our season– for growing gardens, for camping or playing outside without being attacked by mosquitoes and oppressive heat. And the sunsets this time of year are amazing!
Sunflower is celebrating the season with a free Family G.O. (Get Outside!) Event, tomorrow (Nov. 20), 3:30 — 5:00 pm, at Pondhawk Natural Area in Boca. All ages are welcome for hands-on nature exploration. Visit our Sunflower Meetup site for more info and to RSVP.
In the meantime, check out these nature resources from our blog and beyond:

I’d like to recommend the book The Goodness of Rain by Ann Pelo, early childhood teacher, educator and author. A very beautiful account of the author’s year in nature with a 1 year old. Her goal was to create an eco-identity in the toddler. She found that the child’s innocent and natural ability to be with nature taught her so much more.
Thanks, Shelly. Sounds wonderful!
