Sunflower Roots & Shoots invites everyone to G.O.! (Get Outside!)
Join us the first Wednesday of each month, 4 – 5 pm, as we explore local parks and nature preserves.
-Free event. You do not need to be a Roots & Shoots member to attend.
-All ages welcome. Parents are required to attend with children.

Sunflower Roots & Shoots Club
Shooting Stars
Ages 5-12
Children are changing the world! Shooting Stars join Jane Goodall’s worldwide kids’ activist group working together to create local service projects. Each project shows care and concern for the environment, animals or the human community.
Weekly meetings are a mix of service projects at the Delray Beach Children’s Garden and family meetups at local natural areas.
Meetings will be on Wednesdays from 4-5 pm. Meeting location varies each week. Roots & Shoots is a FREE program.
First meeting: August 26, 2026
Last class: May 12, 2027

Each year, members choose a different service project focus. Last year’s service project was a partnership with Delray Beach Children’s Garden. Members worked hard throughout the year, and were proud to have a strong role in the birth and development of the beloved DBCG.
One meeting each month is a GO! “Get Outside!” meeting. Started by Children & Nature Network, GO! is a national youth-inspired, youth-led initiative to rally people of all ages to get outside and spend time in nature. Shooting Stars explore local parks and nature preserves or at Sunflower, in our Learning Garden and nature playscape. Last year, members explored Delray Oaks Natural Area, Wakodahatchee Wetlands and Leon M. Weekes Environmental Preserve in Delray.
Minimum Parent Requirements
Because this is a free club, your volunteer participation is appreciated. For at least one meeting during the year, each family must provide a fruit snack for all the children (or contribute the money for Sunflower to provide the snack). There will be a signup sheet at the meetings, so you can choose your week.
Parent Attendance at GO! Meetings
For all GO! meetings, parents must either attend with your children (not a drop-off event) or assign another parent friend to be responsible for them during that time.
